Samsung Galaxy S8 vs Galaxy S8+(plus) vs LG G6. The widescreen showdown is ON!

If you’re looking at copping yourself a new Android flagship phone, LG and Samsung have got you covered. At least for now. Looking at how the trend goes for the big guns of the smartphone empire, it looks like we’re heading up to the bezel-less era.

LG unveiled their flagship of the year with the G6 earlier in February. But how does that compare with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8+? Let’s find out.

We’ve been impressed with the G6 so far, at least for the early part of this year mainly because it’s a marked departure from their uninspiring LG G5 from 2015.

This year, however, they’ve cleared their crumbles behind and launched the G6. A beautiful smartphone that not only catches every eye around but also brands a powerful processor. A top-of-the-line Android smartphone. But does it compare with the Samsung Galaxy S8?

Samsung proved us that their infamous Note 7 blasting up everywhere wasn’t going to get on their way to come up with something new, that’s for sure. I mean, look at that screen! The screen just melts into your palms. Pinch me if it’s from the future. Or is technology progressing slowly? It’s up to you to decide. The S8 dazzles with a 5.8-inch display crammed into what feels like a normal-sized phone, with a barely-there bezel. That alone is a feat of engineering, but the phone is also a thing of beauty to look at. It has a clean, unbranded face; a bright, fluid-looking display; and a mirror-like glass back. So far, the one bad thing we’ve noted about the display is its bizarre aspect ratio, which might result in pillar-boxed 16:9 videos. Otherwise, Samsung has pulled off an optical magic trick. By the way, if you still want an actual phablet: there’s a version with a 6.2-inch display, too. The S8 plus.

LG G6 vs S8 vs S8 plus design: How is it different?

Gone is the modular design of the LG G5. In its place, you’ll find new metal unibody design on the G6, which means the phone not only looks decidedly modern, but it’s also fully IP68 water-resistant. In other words, if you go dropping the G6 in the sink, you don’t need to worry. The color options are Black, White and Platinum.

LG’s done a great job of creating a sleek-looking device, and has clearly topped last year’s G5. It isn’t the most exciting-looking phone, however. What’s more, after last year’s classy and refined Galaxy S7, Samsung has debuted a seriously slick Galaxy S8 with an attractive all-front screen that boasts curved edges.

As for the S8 plus, it’s just a bumped up version of the S8. More of a phablet kind. It has a bigger 6.2-inch screen. More battery juice for the S8 plus.

Specs:

There’s no doubt both phones will be incredibly fast. LG using the Snapdragon 821 will ensure a slick user experience. But Samsung will likely have the edge thanks to the Snapdragon 835, a newer and more powerful chip. In short, we’re expecting the S8 to be faster, but you probably won’t notice too much of a difference – both phones will be sufficiently quick. As for the S8 plus, a little bumped RAM of 8GB while both S8 and the G6 run on 4GB. Now, this really feels like 2017. Smartphones with an almost equivalent specs of a laptop.

Price:

All three devices are yet to be launched in India and hence their prices are not yet specified. LG G6 is said to come out sometime early next month and the price is expected to be Rs. 49,990.

Both the Samsung S8’s are expected to release worldwide on April 21st and is expected to be priced at Rs. 55,550. While it’s bigger brother would cost around Rs. 62,999.

All three are exquisite phones, bottom line it all depends on the person. What he/she would prefer as a daily driver. If you’re looking for a luxury phone, Samsung would be a good option. If you’re looking for a pretty good Android smartphone but I don’t want to show-off too much and I got to get it right now then LG G6 serves its purpose. As for phablet lovers, S8 plus is more than required to satisfy whatever you’re looking.

Watch out Apple, these big guns are taking over. It’s time to step-up your design game!
